The East African, 2-8th April 2012 published ‘East African Women in Science’. It discussed a lack of recognition for female scientists and the challenges they face.
Key Points:
- Even though there are campaigns to encourage girls to pursue science, women remain a minority in scientific research.
- Statistics from 2009 highlight the low percentage of female science and technology students across East African countries.
- Women in science face biases, cultural pressures, and family responsibilities that hinder their career progression.
